Jamie Fletcher

Keys/Vocals

Ever see one of those musicians that just seem to make everything look so easy? You know, the one you’re watching and you end up saying to yourself “Hey…I can do that! It looks so simple”. Well, Fat Brass has latched on to someone just like that and we couldn’t be happier. Audience members have noticed as well.

Jamie Fletcher, Keys/Vocals, hails from the great state of Wisconsin…Greenleaf to be specific. Jamie attended De Pere High School and the University of Wisconsin at Madison where she played in the UW Marching Band. After “eating a rock” and earning a BA in International Political Economics and an MS in Broadcast Journalism, Jamie’s “logical” way of thinking led her not into the realm chasing down dignitaries with a microphone and camera for an interview, but rather to her dream of becoming a professional musician and traveling the world around. The opportunity to follow her dream arrived in the form of an emergency opening for a keyboard player on a cruise ship show-band just two weeks after finishing her Masters.

Predominantly self-taught, Jamie was thrilled to be thrown headfirst into her soul calling and through hard work and determination she is living and loving her dream of playing music professionally. Cruise ship travel provided opportunities for Jamie to play jazz and cabaret around coastal South America, Dixieland music in the Med, and funky fusion in the hippest cosmopolitan ports of Scandinavia. Her land work includes playing in R&B, cover, and high-end corporate bands from British Columbia to Boston and she will be showcasing her talent on the international stage in 2009.

In addition to being an extremely gifted player, she is also instinctual composer. A life love affair with the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim inspired Jamie to adopt Brazil's rich musical influences into her compositions. In the spring of 2007, her talent for composing landed her a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston where she, as a first-semester student, acted as accompanist for the Berklee Singer/Songwriter’s Showcase. Jamie’s new album "Dark Honey" is available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, Rhapsody, CD Baby, Lala and eMusic and is also debuting on radio stations in Portugal, Spain, and Macedonia.

Ms. Fletcher lists her influences as “anything dance-able or bleeding romantic”. Not only does she add a plethora of musical ability to Fat Brass, she also makes the band look good. But, she looks even better when she ditches the band and goes out to dance in front of Fat Brass drummer Tony Giovannini…something Tony really doesn’t mind at all!

When not engaged in an effortless display of her musical talents, Jamie likes to travel, has an interest in photography and - something not many people know about her- she is also a prodigal poultry farmer and can list genetic traits of over 100 chicken species. Bib over-alls aside, I can tell you one thing…Fat Brass is very happy she is aboard for the ride!
